The upper reach of Meadow Creek is quite remote and a beautiful, extensive set of wetlands with some new beaver dams. The views of nearby Black Rock Mountain and Devil’s Head are amazing.
The hike is about 20+ km in length but there’s no appreciable elevation gain. The terrain is easy and mostly level but the hike is rather long.
We will observe COVID-19 precautions and guidance from the Government of Alberta and expect
participants to follow appropriate sanitizing and social distancing. We thank you for your understanding
and cooperation! If you need more details you can check the Government website at:
this link.
Please bring a personal mask and your own hand sanitizer.
Thank you for joining us for this exceptional day out in one of Alberta’s truly wonderful Wild Spaces
— we look forward to meeting you there!
Meadow Creek is a major tributary of Waiparous Creek. Although part of the trail is designated for OHVs, there’s rarely any traffic, especially on weekdays. The trailhead is near the spot where Meadow Creek flows into Waiprous Creek, just off the Forestry Trunk Road. We’ll drive up the Forestry Trunk Road and ford Waiparous Creek to hike along Meadow Creek, a tributary of Waiparous Creek. The scenery changes from aspen woods to open and wet meadows, with beautiful views of the mountains.
Directions to the meeting point will be sent to registered participants a few days in advance of this Adventure.
