Join AWA as we ramble in Nose Hill Park in memory of renowned Calgary naturalist Gus Yaki. On this walk we will be joined by naturalists, botanists and geologists who will lead us on an exploration of the features and history of the park, as we visit cultural sites, coulees and hillsides to learn more about urban wildlife and plant species and the natural world that was Gus’s passion.
All donations to AWA are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.

This walk will take about 2 - 3 hours
Required Equipment
Please wear good, sturdy walking shoes. Keep an eye on the weather and be prepared for all possibilities, especially cold and wind as there is not much shelter on top of Nose Hill.

Details
On this walk we will be joined by:
Herpetologist, Botanist, Naturalist Karel Bergmann,
who will help us explore and find many living features of the park;
Senior Petroleum Geologist Tako Koning,
who will show us geological features of the area, the boulders from Mt. Edith Cavell, the sandstone, rubbing stones and more;
Shawn Cornett,
who was the Chair of Nose Hill Park Community Advisory at the time the park was established, and will tell the story of how this park was secured;
Vivian Pharis, Naturalist, Botanist and Director Alberta Wilderness Association.
This adventure is free to join. If you wish, you may make a donation in memory of Gus Yaki. When you register yourself, please feel free to acknowledge the fundraising component in order to complete your registration – however, as we said there is no fee. Your online registration is required. This adventure is limited to 20 registrants. Thank you!
