Located east of Highway 22, the Porcupine Hills are a series of rolling hills rich with a mosaic of vegetation. Walking the seemingly endless ridges you will find a bounty of wildflowers such lilies, orchids and roses in addition to magnificent douglas firs and limber pines which offer the perfect spot to catch a quick rest while enjoying the wonderful views. The Porcupine Hills are home to numerous ungulate species including mule deer, elk, and moose in addition to larger mammals, wolves and grizzly bears.
We will observe COVID-19 precautions and guidance from the Government of Alberta and expect
participants to follow appropriate sanitizing and social distancing. We thank you for your understanding

MEETING TIME AND LOCATION: Chain Lakes Provincial Park Campground at 9:00 a.m.
- From Calgary, head south to Hwy 22X (a.k.a. Marquis of Lorne Trail, Spruce Meadows Trail)
- Head west to junction with Hwy 22.
- Take Hwy 22 south to Chain Lakes Provincial Parks (about 53 km). Meet in the day use area parking lot near the outhouse facilities, this is located close to the lake.

Please allow yourself at least 1.5 hours from central Calgary. From there we will drive in a convoy to our hiking location in the North Porcupine Hills, approximately 30 minutes from Chain Lakes Provincial Parks.
