Status as per Alberta Wildfire Website (Jun 3, 2021):
CWF-156-20, The Devil's Head Wildfire from the 2020 wildfire season was scanned on Wednesday morning and is now considered extinguished. This wildfire was caused by an abandoned campfire and burned 2,420 hectares.
Just prior to the hike, the coordinator will make sure that it is completely safe to enter the wildfire area.
With wildfire expert Edward A. Johnson, Ph.D.* in attendance and prepared to talk about the various sites we will be touring, this is a truly unparalleled opportunity to learn about the nature of wildfires and their impact on Alberta’s landscape – both historical, and contemporary, as well as what we can expect to see in the future in the context of our changing climate.
