Discover your inner artist on this beautiful fall day. Barbara is an interdisciplinary artist who has addressed social and environmental issues for the past 30 years. A background in various drawing and painting materials has evolved to include photography, video, sculpture and recycled textiles. Her public art projects have included a park beside city street, and an international sculpture garden. She has served on various expert panels within the arts community.
Barbara’s creative work embraces change and transformation. Her projects have addressed environmental concerns, climate change, multicultural issues, and community despair.
The group will meet at 10 am at the Pine Top Recreation Area, Sibbald Flats, about 45 min from central Calgary. Barbara will lead participants through some art, design and drawing exercises before heading out for natural and found materials. Participants will create a variety of small, ephemeral works with Barbara’s support. Some of these works may not be portable or durable. These will be documented with photography. A good camera is welcome. A phone camera is adequate. As September 21 is the Equinox, it offers us an opportunity to honour nature and consider our connection in the natural world.
